What’s New

Copying student ordering between dashboards
TD2 now lets teachers copy student ordering from one dashboard to another.  Keep those ideas coming!

Bug Fixes

Using email clients other than Gmail
TD2 now respects schools’ email preferences, so it can open new emails to students in clients other than Gmail.

Disappearing 'Sort by' panel
TD2’s panel for sorting students alphabetically sometimes closed unexpectedly so we’ve fixed that instability.

Broken toolbar in classes
The toolbar to the left of student panels in TD2 occasionally displayed incorrectly. We’ve fixed that, too!

Miscellaneous

Behind-the-scenes technical improvements

TD2 now uses Google’s newest services to carry out activity in Google Apps for Education on a school’s behalf.

RESOLVED: Smart Share Service Degradation

RESOLVED 4/20/2015 11:21AM PDT: The root cause of this morning's Smart Share delays has been identified and a fix has been implemented. Google has increased the Drive API per second limit rate of the new app, and we are no longer running into the errors that extended SS completion times. Should any users still experience lingering issues, please do not hesitate to reach out. We thank you for your patience and understanding

ORIGINAL POST 4/20/2015 9:05AM PDT: Over the weekend, we updated Smart Share to operate on the new Google Drive API, as Google no longer supports the old APIs Smart Share was built upon. While we have seen a drop in error rates, average completion times have unfortunately increased. Smart Share's slowness seems to be an unexpected result of that update, but we're working to understand and fix the problem. From our reports, the copies are still being created and the share completed, but after a longer than normal processing period.

Should you experience this behavior in Smart Share, please contact us at support@hapara.com with the following information:

1. What file did the teacher try sharing?
2. With what classes did the teacher try sharing the file?
3. When did the teacher start the attempted share?
4. Have any students received the files in question?
* If so, which students would those be?

We apologize for the inconvenience and will post all updates we receive from our developers.

Sincerely,
Hapara Support

RESOLVED: Interact Service Disruption

RESOLVED 4-3-15 14:54 PDT
Our tests were unable to reproduce the error reported, and we have deemed this a transient issue. As a result, this Service Disruption can been closed out and marked as a Resolved. Should any users still experience difficulty connecting with Interact, please contact us at support@hapara.com. Thank you for your continued support.

UPDATE 23:28 PDT
The investigation of the current Interact service disruption is still ongoing. As the issues are not universal, we have been unable to determine the root cause. With that said, we are still treating this as a non-localized service disruption. Please contact support@hapara.com should you have any Interact connectivity issues. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to restore service to normal.

ORIGINAL POST 12:09 PDT
We have received multiple reports of connection errors from Interact. Diagnostic tests are returning the message of “student not enrolled.” We are currently investigating the cause of this and will post updates to this blog as we progress. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

RESOLVED: Data Loader Service Outage

We have identified the cause of this morning data loader issue, and we have released a fix for the issue. As a result, our data loader can now find schools' class and student spreadsheets once again.

Thanks again for your patience while we've addressed this issue.

Best regards,
The Hapara Support Team

Data Loader Service Outage

Multiple schools have reported that the TD admin console's data loader cannot find their class and student spreadsheets this morning. We believe that this is a global issue, we've identified a potential explanation for it, and we are working to fix it.

We believe that CSV loads are not affected by this issue.

If you need to load data urgently, please contact us via support@hapara.com. We can convert your data into a CSV file, which should load successfully.

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

Best regards,
The Hapara Support Team

What’s New

Individual Learning Plans (a.k.a. Student Notes and Teacher Notes)
Individual Learning Plans are files that let teachers share notes about students. There is one per student, and only a student’s teachers can open it. ILPs can now be accessed in TD2 via the ILP button in each student panel’s toolbar.

Bug Fixes

TD2 access for schools with multiple teacher domains
For schools with students in one domain and teachers in multiple separate domains, teachers couldn’t access TD2. Our security measures now handle that case properly, so teachers at such schools can access TD2 now.
